Life Skills to Employment Program

FOR YOUTH 15 TO 30 YEARS

Gain the skills and tools you need to get and keep a job

The current session is underway and the next session begins in April.

Please contact us in late March for details on how to get yourself an interview for the next session.

The Life Skills to Employment Program is a 12 week program that focuses on the areas of life as they relate to the work environment and prepares participants to seek employment with confidence and knowledge of who they are and what they want to do. Life Skills covers lessons such as:

  • building communication skills
  • facing your fears
  • identifying stereotypes
  • values
  • giving and receiving feedback
  • goal setting

These lessons develop self-awareness and improve interactions and communication with others. In addition, many lessons focus on searching for a job and getting prepared for it. Some of the lessons are about:

  • identifying skills
  • work choices
  • overcoming barriers
  • resume writing
  • cover letters
  • informational interviews and interview skills

The combination of life and employment skills in one program results in a strength based approach to job search activities.

The Government of Canada has contributed to this initiative.
